Analytical Technician

 

Analytical Technician, 12 month contract, Surrey, from £10p/h
Our client, a globally recognised oil and gas company, is seeking to appoint an Analytical Technician to be based in the Surrey area.

The purpose of this role is to perform lab based experimental work and initial data analysis in the area of oil field and production chemistry. 

 

 

• Deliver safe high quality laboratory experimental programs, including experimental design, planning, experimentation and initial data analysis in the subject areas of Oilfield and Production Chemistry. 
• Provide laboratory experience and expertise, with a strong problem solving capability and meticulous attention to detail in; equipment operation, method development, documentation, laboratory operations and laboratory safety (operations, procedures & materials). 
• Operation, calibration, maintenance, method development and troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation to deliver data and information to provide mechanistic understanding. 
• Working with the Lab Manager, Lab Safety officer, ensure all laboratory and site documentation required to perform role is well maintained and up to date. 
• Ensure compliance with relevant Laboratory Safety, Quality Management Systems, Procedures, Control of Work, and Method of Change as appropriate.
• Perform role in alignment with HSSE standards, and provide challenge where standards or expectations are not clear.

• Advanced (post secondary education) qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering (or a relevant scientific discipline). 
• Specialisation in Physical Chemistry would be advantageous. 
• Suitable candidates will be self-starters with the ability to work independently while also being a strong team player 
• English – Good in oral and written communication 
• Chemistry laboratory operational experience
• HSSE behaviour and leadership
• Laboratory general skills (sample preparation and handling)
• Laboratory operation of physical chemistry instrumentation
• Problem solving skills 
• Proven track record of excellent laboratory HSSE performance 
• Experience with performance testing of additives and formulations utilising, for example, capillary suction time, hardness, wettability measurements, imbibition, dispersion stability
